About Stand on the Street
Along bustling streets that are the arteries of any town a hundred busy hands feed a thousand hungry tummies. Anonymous and ubiquitous, noisy yet satisfying, simple and cooked with care, flavourful yet staple, food on the street can be a fascinating experience. We invite you to immerse yourself in the culinary stories of our streets, Sprinkled with a little salt, a little sugar, a little tang and a just little spice.
Our conversations with Street Chefs across the country and our interest in food and culture has inspired this performance. Events that we saw and heard surprised us. Some shocked us. Some narratives made us reflect while some raised difficult questions. Our observations, encounters and realisations have been crafted into performance characters that you will experience today. Masks, Physical theatre, narratives and food come together in this compelling performance. Whether you are a hungry traveller or a hurried executive, whether you are a craving passerby or a happy stroller, Come Stand on the Street.

Audience feedback - WrittenExtremely unique. It asks a lot from the audience too. Food is Yumm! Are you on Swiggy? The performance stirred a storm of emotions. There were moments of empathy, anger and subtle humour. Captured and depicted their stories beautifully A very interesting experience. The food was delicious and the performers were very impressive. Curation was great too. Lighting could have been more interesting The detailing of the set and characters were very good giving it an authentic feel. Liked the way several important social and political factors were alluded to without pushing them down one's throat. Great work by the actors. Kudos Was transported to the city and to each street vendor's life. Masks were on point. The body communicated more than the dialogues. The soundscape was the most immersive part of the performance |
